Walter “Eddie” Wade, PE, a vice president with full-service consulting engineering firm Croy, was named Georgia’s 2019 Young Engineer of the Year by the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers (GSPE). Wade was honored for the achievement on Saturday evening during the Georgia Engineering Awards, an annual event co-hosted by GSPE and the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia (ACEC Georgia).
“This award is an important recognition of the work Eddie does not only to support Georgia’s engineering industry, but the many communities across the Southeast where his work has made a positive impact,” said Jim Croy, Sr., PE, Managing Partner and CEO for Croy. “Eddie has been a part of the Croy family for five years, and over that time, has helped to significantly grow our firm. We are proud to call him one of our own and celebrate this tremendous career achievement with him.”
Over the course of his 13-year career, Wade has worked on various award-winning projects ranging from small municipal stormwater design to large transportation improvements. His broad experience spans planning and design on multi-use trails and greenways, aviation projects, wastewater reuse studies, and infrastructure master plans.
Wade is also actively involved with several organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Water Works Association, Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Northwest Family YMCA, National Society of Professional Engineers, and Water Environment Federation. He is an Auburn University alumnus and licensed professional engineer in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee.
The Engineer of the Year Awards are presented annually by GSPE to licensed engineers in Georgia who have made outstanding contributions to the engineering profession and the public good. Judging criteria include involvement in professional and technical associations, civic and humanitarian activities, and notable engineering projects.
