The Westover Boulevard Extension will provide a new north/south roadway connection between Westover Boulevard and Ledo Road in Albany, GA, providing significant congestion relief to both Nottingham Way and the surrounding roadway network. The underpass will consist of two lanes in each direction with a raised/flush center median, curb and gutter, and sidewalk. Because of challenges with drainage patterns in the area, the project requires raising the existing Liberty Expressway. To accommodate the grade change, two parallel bridges will be constructed over the new extension.

During the traffic analysis phase, the project’s two intersections were analyzed using GDOT roundabout tools to determine whether a signalized intersection or a roundabout would be the best design option. The intersection of Westover Boulevard and Westover Boulevard Extension justified the multi-lane roundabout that has been included in the final design of the project.
