At Croy, what makes our team unique is the high value we place on investing in the communities where we live, work, and play. A cornerstone of this commitment is our annual “Croy Cares Week.” This initiative offers all team members an opportunity to participate in one or more volunteer opportunities based on their location. Although participation is optional, more than half of our employees choose to participate, making the week a success year after year.

Now in its fourth year, this Croy Cares Week was no different, with another outstanding turnout. We were grateful for the opportunity to volunteer alongside some of our favorite non-profits, while also adding new, exciting initiatives to our roster. Keep reading to learn how each office gave back.

Chattanooga

Our Chattanooga office donated items for Family Promise of Greater Chattanooga, a non-profit that helps homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through community-based programs. “We’ve been happy to help collect cleaning supplies and other basic household necessities,” said Senior Planner Ethan Greene, AICP. “Knowing we helped relieve the financial burden of a neighbor’s next trip to the grocery store is rewarding, and I’m grateful for Croy and Family Promise working together to make it possible.”

Huntsville

Our Huntsville office volunteered with Free 2 Teach, an organization that provides free school supplies to public school teachers in Madison and Limestone counties in Alabama. Throughout the week, team members collected school supplies and then helped the non-profit sort, organize, and restock donated resources. “We had a great time working in their warehouse putting together activity bundles and organizing school supplies,” said Project Engineer and first-time Croy Cares Week participant, Alden Hall. “It was nice to go out as a team, serve our community, and learn about a wonderful non-profit that serves our teachers and students in the local school systems so well.”

Marietta

Finally, our Marietta office team members participated in a variety of initiatives throughout Croy Cares Week. They kicked off the week volunteering in a Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build—a full circle moment, as Croy provided program management, surveying, and engineering services for this property.

Team members also served dinner at The Extension Men’s Campus, a non-profit dedicated to transforming the lives of people affected by homelessness and addiction through housing and recovery services.

Throughout the week, the team donated toward a drive benefiting Devereux and Dave Krache Foundation, competing in a friendly competition between Team Soccer Balls and Team Basketballs to see who could collect more. The results? Team Basketballs with 88 balls, while Team Soccer Balls came in second with 74 balls.

Wrapping up the week, volunteers gathered bright and early on Saturday morning to support Reflections of Trinity’s Thanksgiving Outreach program. This outreach is one of the organization’s most impactful efforts, with more than 2,000 cars served Saturday morning to ensure thousands of families enjoy a full holiday meal, regardless of financial hardship.

Later that day, our team members attended Laugh Wars, Cobb County’s Premiere Improv Comedy Tournament. The event included five professional improv teams, with the winner chosen by the audience. A portion of event proceeds went to Simple Needs Georgia, a non-profit that provides the essential necessities to children, people experiencing homelessness, and others in need.

“Each year, I’m amazed by our team members’ commitment to giving back to the communities we serve,” said Events Specialist and Croy Cares Week Organizer, Haylee Johnson. “I enjoyed participating in the Marietta office’s various opportunities throughout the week. From building a new home to donating items, serving dinner, and packing meals for those in need—when it comes to giving back, our team knows no bounds.”
