Dallas-Watts Roundabout

Design Brings Mobility Improvements and “Complete Streets” Concept to Community

To improve mobility and aesthetics, our Croy team performed a complete survey database, traffic analysis, preliminary engineering, right-of-way plans, and final engineering for the Dallas-Watts Roundabout. Performed according to the GDOT Plan Presentation Guide, the design consists of a new roundabout at the intersection of Dallas Street and Watts Drive, as well as improvements to both roads.

The corridor was designed using a “Complete Streets” philosophy, including sidewalks and a shared-use trail on both sides of the roadway to accommodate pedestrians. A median on Watts Drive promotes traffic calming in conjunction with the new roundabout. On-street parking was also added to Dallas Street, with intersection improvements at Dallas Street and Main Street.

Coordination between multiple stakeholders was essential to the success of this project. Our Croy team worked with both the City of Kennesaw and a local developer on a compressed schedule, facilitating several meetings to successfully deliver the project in a timely manner.

In addition, Croy’s Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) personnel monitored the construction phase of the project. This included coordinating numerous utilities, street closures with city staff, quality assurance, quality take-offs, and final punch-list items.
