In order to enhance the efficiency of traffic flow, Croy Engineering collaborated with the City of Smyrna to create design plans for the widening and reconstruction of Spring Road from west of Bell Drive to the US 41 intersection. Project components and services included:

  • Widening of roadway from four lanes to six, with three lanes in each direction, raised concrete median, left and right turn lanes, and curb and gutter
  • Addition of 8’ sidewalk on both sides of roadway
  • Drainage improvements
  • Utility coordination
  • Construction management

Croy also prepared construction drawings for ten traffic signals to be upgraded along the Spring Road Corridor. Following City guidelines, the designs included decorative mast arms and poles, new signal equipment, and radar detection. Croy was responsible for inventorying the existing software and hardware for the impacted traffic signals and creating design plans for the upgrade of all equipment in order to facilitate deployment of the upgraded signal-timing program.
