Chattanooga En Route

Community Transit Stop Design Challenge

Croy reimagined two transit stops as pocket parks at locations selected for improvement by project owner, Chattanooga Design Studio. The goal of the project was transforming the traditionally bleak infrastructure of public transportation into a vibrant, multi-modal hub to be enjoyed by transit users and the community as a whole, while including space for public art and enhancing comfort and safety.

Croy developed a modular kit of parts including open-air transit shelters with a variety of accessible, customizable seating options, solar-powered lighting, wifi and device charging stations, landscape improvements, enhanced paving and visual accents, Chattanooga E-bike stations, bike racks, and increased pedestrian safety measures, including crosswalks, speed tables, and hawk signals. Due to these sites’ urban locations and their potential for placemaking, Croy recommended right-of-way acquisition and partnerships with adjacent businesses whose patrons will benefit directly from these enhancements.
