Mid-City Development and Streetscape

100-Acre Mixed-Use Community Embraces Open Space Design

The Mid-City Development is a $350 million, 100-acre mixed-use community located in the City of Huntsville. The development features 38 acres of public space programmed throughout the site for both passive and active recreation; 350,000 square feet of retail, 150,000 square feet of office space, two multi-story boutique hotels, an 8,500-seat amphitheater, and more than 500 residential units – all encompassed in a dense, urbanized, planned development that replaced a dilapidated 1980s indoor mall site.

Croy worked with the City of Huntsville to provide park and open space design, and then with the developer to provide streetscape design, landscape architectural services on private venture lots (landscape design, irrigation design, hardscape design, fine grading services), utility master planning coordination services, and public space/pedestrian street design between private buildings. The project’s total build-out is expected by 2025.
