Palmer Park Facility Addition and Park Upgrades
Croy has been providing services for the City of Madison’s Palmer Park since 2020. Croy initially aided with a re-design of the proposed parking facility and restroom/concession building grading. Due to the layout of the existing fields, the restroom/concession building would be located within the FEMA 100-year floodplain. The restroom/concession building and site seating were designed to be inconspicuously elevated masking the appearance of a “pyramid” that would have been aesthetically unappealing.
Croy was asked next to help develop a new Master Site Plan for the Park to accommodate growing numbers of participants in the sports programs, traffic safety concerns, and parking concerns. Croy was asked to initially to begin with the northwest section of the park. Croy’s site design provides layouts for new turf fields, site and field lighting, new restroom/concession facilities, re-alignment of the park’s main road, a new entrance off Palmer Road, additional parking, and landscaping. After the layout had been approved, Croy was asked to provide 50% design development drawings. This was done to help develop future construction costs for the City’s budgetary numbers. While the design development drawings were being produced, Croy was asked to expand the Master Plan thoughts to the southwest portion of the park. The team provided a design that included new parking areas, two new baseball field locations, new playground facility locations, landscaping, and a Miracle Field location.
