Engineering Study and Sewer Lift Station Design Bring Increased Service to Downtown Area
Croy was commissioned by the Bartow County Water Department to evaluate the need for water and sewer along US Highway 41 to residential and commercial users along Third Army Road. A study was completed and a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) was prepared which determined the infrastructure needed and with what capacity. The improvements necessary to provide water and sewer services for the area consisted of approximately 4,300 feet of 8-inch gravity sewer, a sewer lift station, 7,600 feet of 6-inch sewer force main, and approximately 12,000 feet of 12-inch water main.
Croy developed a cost estimate, design and construction schedule, necessary permits, as well as future environmental impacts. The PER allowed Bartow County to seek Economic Development Administration (EDA) and Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) funding for implementation.
Our team was then chosen to complete the design plans for the project, including the water, gravity sewer, lift station, and force main. With the project receiving grant funding and applying for GEFA loans, our environmental specialist coordinated all efforts to receive a Categorical Exclusion for the water portion of the project and a Notice of No Significant Impact for the remainder of the project. Bartow County received $650,000 in ARC funding, as well as a State Revolving Fund loan for the remaining amount to complete the $4 million construction.
