Tyler Perry Studios Guide Signage

Following Tyler Perry Studios’ acquisition of the former Fort McPherson site in Atlanta, Croy provided professional services to coordinate with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for the permitting and design of the replacement destination guide signs to display “Tyler Perry Studios.”

The initial effort was an assessment of the land uses and respective intensities for the Tyler Perry Studios property to determine if the site met GDOT’s policies for destinations displayed on interstate and limited access facilities guide signs. The findings were submitted in a technical report to GDOT’s Office of Traffic Operations, which led to the approval of “Tyler Perry Studios” replacement of the previous “Fort McPherson’ destination line on interstate guide signs on SR 166/Langford Parkway.

With GDOT’s approval, Croy performed a survey of the existing overhead and roadside guide signs. Construction plans were produced in accordance with GDOT specifications for the fabrication and installation of interstate guide signs. To meet the client’s compressed timeline to have the signs installed prior to the studio’s opening celebration, Croy proposed a phased installation. Phase 1 was the installation of temporary panels over the existing signs until the overhead structures could be fabricated for the installation of the permanent signs during Phase 2.

Croy attended pre-construction meetings and coordinated with the contractor to assure success of this project and an inspector was appointed by Croy to ensure smooth running of site work.
