At Croy, making a meaningful difference by giving back to the communities where we live, work, and play is a core value. Over the course of 2024, Croy has contributed more than $100,000 in financial and in-kind donations to charitable and civic organizations. On an individual level, Croy employees have volunteered with more than two dozen different organizations or schools – serving on committees and boards, mentoring students, or donating food, money, or time.

As a testament to this firm-wide commitment, we host our annual “Croy Cares Week.” This week-long initiative, launched in 2022, provides an opportunity for all team members to participate in one or more volunteer opportunities based on their location. While we are proud of our employees’ individual involvement and support of their local communities, what makes Croy Cares Week even more special is the chance for team members to volunteer together.

Now in its third year in 2024, Croy Cares Week celebrated another successful turnout with more than half of our employees participating! We enjoyed volunteering with some of our favorite non-profits, while also adding new, exciting initiatives to our roster this year. Check out highlights from each office’s volunteer opportunities below.

Chattanooga

Our Chattanooga office volunteered at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, separating donations and packing food boxes to load into the customer area for pick-up. Working with retailers, manufacturers, farmers, buying alliances, and individual donors, the food bank’s mission is to end hunger for every person in the region. “Being a part of my first Croy Cares Week was an impactful experience,” said Project Engineer and new hire, Caleb Shank. “Stocking shelves and preparing food boxes with my team made me so proud to be a part of a company that actively gives back to the community.” The team boxed up three pallets – 225 boxes with 18-20 pounds of food each – and restocked the shelves.

Huntsville

Our Huntsville office spent a beautiful morning volunteering with the Land Trust of North Alabama at Blevins Gap Nature Preserve. The Land Trust’s mission is to preserve North Alabama’s scenic, historic, and ecological resources through conservation, advocacy, recreation, and education. Our employees set a new trail marking post, cleaned trash from the parking lot, and performed maintenance of the trails. “It was a great day for our team to spend together outside,” commented Croy’s Regional Manager, Houston Matthews, PE. “Please consider supporting the North Alabama Land Trust with your time and talents. Our community would not be the same without these amenities and the preservation of these beautiful areas.”

Marietta

Finally, in our Marietta office, team members participated in a variety of new opportunities. We served dinner at Davis Direction, a nonprofit whose mission is to fight addiction and fuel recovery.

Later in the week, we rolled up our sleeves and put on our best gardening gloves to spread mulch at the Cobb County Animal Shelter. The shelter’s primary focus is fostering a thriving community where all animals find the love and care they deserve. After the hard work was done, it was time to tour the facility and play with furry friends – two of our coworkers even took some home with them! If you’re looking to adopt a brand-new best friend, look no further than the shelter.

Wrapping up the week with a nice little bow on top, team members participated in Simple Needs Georgia’s “My Birthday Matters” gift drive for homeless schoolchildren in Cobb County celebrating their birthdays. We held a friendly competition between our two teams—Team Girls and Team Boys—to gather the most gifts, and the results are in: Team Boys with 151 toys and Team Girls as the winner with 177 toys. “I’ve grown up in this community my whole life, and it’s refreshing to see firsthand how impactful these nonprofits are,” said Events Specialist and Croy Cares Week Organizer, Haylee Johnson. “I enjoyed participating in our Marietta office’s volunteer opportunities. From laying mulch at the animal shelter to donating toys for children or serving meals to those in recovery, I believe every small act of kindness creates a ripple of relief and hope. It’s the simple gestures—lending a hand, sharing a gift, or offering a smile—that truly make a difference in people’s lives.”
