Traffic Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with research and studies of traffic operations and
  • Create traffic simulation
  • Prepare technical reports, such as traffic engineering reports and traffic impact
  • Prepare traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications.
  • Perform other engineering duties as needed to support various internal departments with projects related to traffic engineering, engineering design, and planning.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or an engineering-related field from an accredited higher education institution
  • Proficient in traffic analysis and design software (i.e., Synchro, VISSIM, HCS 2010, )
  • Software CAD experience (i.e., Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Inroads, )
  • Understanding of GDOT policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, Plan Development Process, Design Traffic Forecasting Manual, Traffic Signal Design Manual, and MUTCD.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Possess developing technical writing skills
  • Ability to research and apply development standard guidelines
  • Self-motivated with the ability to apply independent judgment
  • A desire to grow with the company

The candidate should expect to perform in a deadline-driven environment. The candidate is expected to either have taken or registered for the FE Exam within the first year of employment, and to begin seeking professional licensure. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing is preferred.
