Georgia-based, full-service consulting firm Croy was recently honored with two Engineering Excellence Merit Awards during the annual Georgia Engineering Awards. Croy’s work on designing the Chattahoochee Technical College Aviation Training Academy in Paulding County, Ga. earned an award in the “Special Projects” category, while the firm also received an award in the “Studies, Research and Consulting Engineering Services” category for its efforts on Depot Park and Piedmont Bank Amphitheater in Kennesaw, Ga.

Hosted by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia (ACEC Georgia) and the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers (GSPE), the Engineering Excellence Awards are given annually by ACEC Georgia to recognize engineering firms’ project achievements which demonstrate the highest degree of quality and ingenuity.

“Our team takes pride in delivering projects that create a long-lasting, positive impact on Georgia’s communities,” said Croy’s CEO Gregory D. Teague, PE. “As this year marks Croy’s 20th anniversary in business, these projects reflect our firm’s on-going commitment to providing quality engineering and innovative solutions for our clients and local communities across the Southeast.”

Chattahoochee Technical College’s (Chattahoochee Tech) new Aviation Training Academy, which opened in the spring of 2024, is located next to Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport. The project’s vision was brought to life through an increasing demand for more aviation maintenance professionals in the industry. Croy was responsible for the civil design of the site layout, utility design, grading, drainage, and coordination with stakeholders. The facility provides space for Chattahoochee Tech students to train in aviation mechanics and maintenance, ultimately preparing them for their careers to take off in the future.

Closer to its headquarters in Cobb County, Croy worked with the City of Kennesaw to revitalize its historic downtown. The firm implemented a twelve-phase master plan, incorporating program elements to increase the park’s size and create a vibrant area. The project includes parking, a meadow area with trails, and a plaza serving as event space for activities. The grand opening of Piedmont Bank Amphitheater in the summer of 2024 signified the completion of phase eight in the master plan. Many concerts and events are hosted here throughout the year, attracting more visitors and businesses to the city.
