Croy’s May internal Lunch & Learn training was a special one! As a part of our program, team members and summer interns had the opportunity to visit the City of Smyrna to enjoy lunch together, learn about a local nonprofit, and hear remarks from Smyrna’s Mayor, Derek Norton.
The more than 20 participants enjoyed hearing Mayor Norton’s insights on Support Smyrna, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans, seniors, students, and others in need within the Smyrna community. Started during the Covid-19 pandemic, this local organization continues to aid with grocery cards, housing, medical bills, and utilities – filling the gap to help Smyrna residents in many different ways.
Mayor Norton also shared comments about Croy: “The City of Smyrna appreciates the Croy team so much. A lot of the things we’re able to do is because of them, and I am thankful for the work the firm puts in for our City. We’ve done some great projects with Croy, and we have a lot of exciting ones coming up!”
The afternoon continued with presentations on two award-winning Croy projects in Smyrna: Roswell Street Roundabout, presented by Eric Brisse, PE and the Downtown Greenspace Improvements, presented by Zach Strickland, PE.
Following lunch, Strickland led a technical tour and insightful discussion on the Downtown Greenspace Improvements, offering a closer look into its development and impact. “This project stemmed from the City’s BOLD Study, which called for new energy to be brought to the heart of Smyrna,” said Strickland. “It was my pleasure to walk our team through the project’s history, goals, and challenges. The unique execution and phasing allowed essential infrastructure elements to support new development. Now, this area is full of energy, and I’m proud to bring projects like this to life in the community where my family works and plays.”
